W’ton, Bilston & District TUC Secretary’s Report December ’00
NB delegate meeting is a week earlier than usual, the EC will be in CR1 from 6.30pm.
If you haven’t sent off the GMB Foframe strikers’ postcards or just received them then please send them off. The owner has been forced back round the negotiating table so keep up the pressure.
Branch affiliations and EC nominations are due now so please follow up your own branch since I waste a lot of time doing this over the year which could be spent campaigning.
5 UNISON members have volunteered to work for us at Resolution 2001 all-night dance event at Alexander Palace on New Year’s Eve. We will get about £300.
FREE TUC computer course for trade unionists – every Tuesday 6-9pm room M109, Wolverhampton College Westfield Road. Open College Network qualification on offer but it’s pretty flexible if you want to just try a few things out or get internet literate. YELLOW PAGES – the trade union section is woefully poor with few branches listed. It is quite likely that non-members might look it up to get a contact to join so why not list your branch? (0800 533 433 to enquire about a free line-listing. W’ton TUC and the CATUC should now be in the next edition but hurry as it is being compiled now. It’s probably worth trying Thompsons too since we’re not all on-line yet!
