ANTI-BNP campaign – discussion following report of Hope Not Hate meeting in Birmingham on Sat 11th July, at delegate meeting. Supporters of the fascist "English Defence League" converged on Birmingham on Saturday July 4th They marched through a crowded Bull Ring chanting racist and, in particular, islamophobic slogans and intimidating Black and Asian people. They were surrounded by Police near the entrance to the Bull Ring and then after about 25 minutes, dispersed, though not before a large and hostile crowd had gathered. There will be a counter march 3pm B’ham Bull ring Sat 11th.
Saturday August 15th (not 8th as printed in the paper mailing sent out, if you receive it) anti-fascist demo called again in Codnor against Bnp annual Red, White & Blue festival. Contact secretary if you are going. Unsure if local involvement in organisation yet
