We have booked, the night club Sugar on Broad street, for Monday 18th December Union Party Nite.

doors open 8pm ends at 2am

drinks promotions negotiated for Havana Club Cuban rum and cocktails, Carling, J20 and real ale!

We have taken over the annual party night that UNISON have previously organised, with their agreement. It has been the focus for many council workers and we have engaged the other council unions to broaden the event.

It is a fundraiser for all the unions selling tickets: UNISON, CYWU, NUT, NASUWT, TGWU & UCATT.

2 rooms with different music to cater for all tastes.  includes all the usual cheesy Xmas disco music in the main room with the Red room reggae, revival, RnB etc

Tickets advance only, none on door@ just £3, sales are low so far so need a last push.

11,000 signatures were collected in the UNISON campaign. the council took the decision to still close Dale House, but keep Underhill open until at least 2009, with Nelson Mandela House and Merry Hill safe for the moment but potentially becoming dementia units in the future.

Practical solidarity with Iraqi trade unions?
The TUC wants unions and their members to pass on their used mobile phones to the Iraqi trade union movement as an act of ‘second-hand solidarity’. The TUC Iraq Solidarity Committee has set a target of equipping every one of the thousand trade union organisers in Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan with a mobile phone.

BRING YOUR UNWANTED MOBILE PHONES & CHARGERS  TO THE DECEMBER 21ST DELEGATE MEETING.  Wb&dtuc WILL SEND THEM ON AS A GROUP.

If you don’t come, send phones, chargers or donations to TUC Aid for Iraq, Congress House, Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3LS.
