Friends of former HASAC – I attended the inaugural meeting of the new West Midlands Hazards Trust. Made up largely of people formerly involved with HASAC, though only Birmingham was circulated with details of the meeting. Best Safety Services had already been set up which will be a commercial H&S venture offering training, consultancy, tests etc to TUs and employers. Surplus money will be channelled into W.M.H.T. which would offer a service similar to HASAC. Possible location S.Birmingham College. Certainly as yet entirely Brum-centric. Cash pledged from Hazards Campaign. Next meeting 4th Dec 7.30pm, TGWU B’ham tbc.
Dudley Group of Hospital strikers – after 5 strikes since August of increasing severity support is still solid and morale seems high. Substantial money has now come from UNISON. Our affiliates have sent over £4,000 so far.
