On December 3rd, UCU members in Further and Higher Education, along with UNITE and UNISON members in Higher Education, went on strike over their continued low pay.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union will take strike action Friday 13 and Saturday 14 December, both from 6pm to 10pm. These will be the fifth and sixth strikes since the end of September.

 

Wolverhampton TUC next delegate meeting to be held from

7pm upstairs in the Newhampton pub,

Riches St, Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton WV6 0DW

 

Preceded @6.30pm by Black Country Peoples Assembly organising meeting – all welcome

    Black Country People’s Assembly is in need of more of our delegates to participate. 

 

Followed at 7.30pm free film show “Condition of the Working Class”

 

 

There is to be a big public launch of the Black Country People’s Assembly, the umbrella anti-cuts groups on

Saturday 25th January at

Arena Theatre 11am-3pm

We aim to encourage participants to get involved in anti-cuts campaigning and have designed sessions to share and teach skills:

 

·     Youth Action – led by CYW-UNITE & Youth Council Wolverhampton

·     Fighting Local cuts – led by Dudley Campaign Against cuts, UNISON, other local groups

·     Collective Gardening – led by Elliot Lord Our Own Future Wolverhampton 

·     Bedroom Tax – led by Birmingham Bed Tax group

·     Zero-hours contract fight – led by Haroon Rashid Bakers union BFAWU 

·     Pensioners – led by Andrea Stanton, Walsall pensioners

·     NHS – led by Stafford save our NHS

·     Countering Far Right – led by UAF/Hope Not Hate

 

We have applied for a joint TUC development grant with the other four local Black Country trades union councils
