The TUC in the Midlands is delighted to announce our first Women at Work Week designed to highlight women workers in the run up to International Women’s Day on 8th March.
3rd March – Meeting with the Regional Governor of the Bank of England with presentation on the impacts of austerity on women workers
5th March – Equality, Still on the Horizon one day workshop specifically for Women Trade Unionists in the Midlands. These workshops have been designed, developed and will be delivered by TUEd centres across the Region in Nottingham, Stoke-on-Trent, Leicester and Solihull
6th March – Inaugural Mary Macarthur Lecture will be given by the TUC General Secretary, Frances O’Grady
7th March – The Midlands TUC Regional Women’s Committee will be out in Coventry from 2pm leafleting the public and supporting the Coventry Women’s Voice Reclaim the Night event that evening.

Seeking interest in a joint campaign with trade union branches and/or community organisations:
for campaigns on either:
· Opposing outsourcing and privatisation at local and national level
· Fighting NHS fragmentation and defending local health services
· Exposing the effects of the government’s cuts on services, benefits and working people at local level
· Campaigning to defend welfare and oppose the stigmatisation of claimants
The TUC is offering Trade Union Councils a special grant of up to £500 this year only. Additionally we have our own funds and so may be amenable to additional co-funding with partner organisation if campaign costs rise above £500.
Fund applications must be submitted through Midlands TUC Regional Secretary for their agreement. If our bid is successful a report of our event will also have to be made.
UNITE’s DSG workers who spoke at our last meeting have suspended their week of strike action end January to ballot an improved offer of a one-off £1,250 bonus.
