Cuts to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme were approved on Thursday 1 November 2012 by a Committee of MPs, although Labour MPs voted against the cuts.
Workers injured in the course of their duties will be restricted in applying for compensation. The new scheme may be subject to a House of Commons vote.
